Enjoy the Holidays without Gaining Extra Pounds
Make time for your workouts but don’t let that trick you into overeating! My girlfriends and I went on a 5 1/2 mile Thanksgiving morning run and afterwards made a pack that we would not overeat later. We may have burned a few hundred calories that morning but those calories only equate to 1 piece of pie!
At parties there are lots of unhealthy yet savory options around but there usually are some healthy alternatives available as well. Start out by filling up on the healthy options like veggie sticks, fruit, and plain chicken pieces before moving on to the unhealthy offerings.
Running around doing all the errands and shopping we need to get done can work up a healthy appetite. Make sure to keep some healthy snacks in your car or purse to have on hand so you don’t become starving and end up overeating.
Finding time to exercise can be a challenge with all the extra things we have to fit into our daily routine, but don’t use this as an excuse to stop working out all together. Some days you might need to cut your workout time in half, but that’s better than not exercising at all. Try maximizing your workout time with more high intensity intervals.
Moderation is the key to enjoying the holiday season. Having a moderate approach to what you eat and how much you exercise (or don’t) will help you avoid packing on extra pounds.
Happy Holidays!
